Top 5 Waterparks & Splash Pads Near Birmingham, AL

Your kids deserve more than a boring 4th of July cookout in the backyard. Plus, even with the sprinklers going and the kiddie pool filled to the brim, that summer sun can be a doozy. Instead of a traditional July 4th party at home, tell the Alabama humidity to back off by splashing around at one of these great waterparks and splash pads around Birmingham!

Alabama Splash Adventure

Located in Bessemer, AL, just minutes from our Birmingham car dealership, Alabama Splash Adventure is the perfect location to have your July 4th celebration. Here’s what it’s got:

  • Upsurge – Pair up for this 5-story ramp that drops down and through the sickest spiraling turns a water slide can have! Not even a new Jeep Compass can handle these twists (probably).
  • Splash Island – New for 2018, Splash Island features 5 amazing water slides and an interactive water playground for the little ones.
  • Kahuna Waves – Four-foot waves. More than 800,000 gallons of water. Yeah, this really is the Big Kahuna!
  • Warrior River – If you’ve got teenagers who can handle their own biz, why not lounge on an inner tube and float down the endlessly relaxing Warrior River? Have yourself a lazy July 4th.
  • Wipeout Adventure Course – Strap yourself in for an obstacle course of monumentally epic proportions. Can you get to the end?
  • Numerous Theme Park Rides – Dry off on any of the non-water rides, including the Scrambler, Drop Zone, and Rampage roller coaster.

Alabama Splash Adventure is open late this July 4th, too! When the park closes, head out to watch some Birmingham fireworks. Win-win for everyone. Visit the Splash Adventure website to buy your tickets.

  1. Harrison Taylor Splash Pad

As far as Tuscaloosa splash pads go, Palmore Park’s play area is unbeatable. In fact, if it weren’t for the all-ages activities at Alabama Splash Adventure, Harrison Taylor Splash Pad might be #1 on our list. This splash park is seriously loaded with summertime activities, including the Black Warrior River Seaplane Tour and water slides for toddlers, water guns, multi-level tipping buckets, frog fountains, mini waterfalls, and much more.

To help fund the maintenance and upkeep of Palmore Park’s splash pad, there is a small ($5) admission fee. But it’s well worth it for an afternoon of summertime fun! Visit www.tcpara.org for additional details or to rent a shelter for your July 4th party.

  1. Spring Valley Beach

Take another short drive north of Jim Burke DCJR and you’ll find Spring Valley Beach in Blountsville, AL. This waterpark offers something for everyone. Defy the laws of physics by flying down the 58-foot water slide, 360Rush, at over 30 mph. Ride The Sidewinder halfpipe, a 4-story tower that goes on and on and on. For younger kids and toddlers, the 2-acre pool is the place to be; four intermediate water slides plunge into “the largest pool in the southeast,” which also features a shallow play area for children.

Bring some snacks, sunscreen, and a change of clothes. When Spring Valley Beach closes—around 6:00 pm—you can load up your SUV and head to a July 4th firework show. Get more details at www.springvalleybeach.com and grab your tickets at the front gate.

  1. Celebration Park Splash Pad

A local Birmingham favorite, the splash pad at Celebration Park in Gardendale is always packed on Fourth of July—and for good reason! If not the best splash pad near Birmingham, Celebration Park’s water playground is one of the best thanks to several kid-friendly features like a big piano-shaped fountain that would make Tom Hanks proud, several tipping water buckets, picnic areas, and an attached “dry” playground.

Although free for kids, this Gardendale splash pad gets full fast! If you’d like to reserve a pavilion for a July 4th party, you’ll want to request a permit yesterday. Visit the City of Gardendale site for additional info, or contact the city’s Parks and Rec office at 205-637-6580 to see if the splash pad will be operational on Independence Day.

  1. Memorial Park Splash Pad

Head west on I-22 toward Jasper and explore the APEX Playground at Memorial Park. Aside from being gorgeous—the APEX Playground was renovated recently—and extremely shaded, this Jasper splash pad is a blessing on these hot summer days. The prototypical splash pad fountains are abundant, as are tipping buckets, water nozzles, and an attached playground. To keep everyone protected from the sun, canopies are attached to all play structures. Take that, Mr. Sun!

The Memorial Park splash pad is free for guests, and the indoor natatorium also hosts swim classes for kids all year! Check jaspercity.com for a detailed map of the park or contact info.
